Cherry Lane’s Mentor Project 2017 production ESAI’S TABLE makes casting announcement.

Nathan Yungerberg’s new play ESAI’S TABLE announces the cast for it’s upcoming reading as part of Cherry Lane Theatre’s Mentor Project 2017. This is the second production of the award-winning initiative, now in its 19th season.

Yungerberg’s play will be directed by Danya Taylor. His mentor is playwright Stephen Adly Guirgis (BETWEEN RIVERSIDE AND CRAZY and THE MOTHERF***ER WITH THE HAT). The cast includes Caleb Eberhardt, Hampton Fluker, Brett M. Gray, and Eden Marryshow. ESAI’S TABLE will be presented at the Cherry Lane Theatre from March 22 – April 1, 2017, Monday – Friday at 7pm, Saturday at 5pm and 9pm. Single tickets are $20-25. ESAI’S TABLEĀ follows the fantastic journey of three young black men on a mythical night sea journey atop a magical old table. Through cartoon animation and personal revelations, we learn why they’ve been chosen to navigate this journey across the unknown. Destiny meets eternity in this story of Black lives, friendship, family, and love.

Nathan Yungerberg is a Brooklyn-based playwright. His plays include THE SON OF DAWN, EVELYN DREAMS OF HORSES, GOLDEN GATE and BRUSH STROKES. Nathan’s work has been developed by The Playwrights’ Center, The Fire This Time Festival, The National Black Theatre, The Hansberry Project, The Classical Theatre of Harlem among others. Finally, Nathan is one of seven Black playwrights commissioned by The New Black Fest for HANDS UP: 7 Playwrights, 7 Testaments.

Cherry Lane’s MENTOR PROJECT received an Obie Award and James Kirkwood Award for American Playwrights for its dedication to providing professional opportunities for emerging writers to hone their craft in tandem with seasoned playwrights of note.
